Judie M. Rettelle is a graduate of San Francisco State University where she received her BA in International Relations in 1987. In 1991 she moved to Washington DC where she worked as a senior litigation paralegal for a prestigious DC law firm.
She worked first in the healthcare defense arena and then in commercial litigation where she had the opportunity to work on a number of high-profile international litigation and arbitration cases ranging from international banking to the catastrophic failure of the Northeastern Electrical grid. Working closely with these litigation teams gave Judie the opportunity to experience the inner workings of the legal world which ultimately led her to decide to take the leap from paralegal to lawyer.
Judie began attending night classes at Catholic University, Columbus School of Law in 1998 while still continuing her full-time work as a senior litigation paralegal. In 2002 she graduated and in a private in-chambers ceremony on a blustery January day in 2003, with her parents and her mentor in attendance, she was sworn into the Arizona Bar.
In 2003 Judie relocated to Arizona where she had spent time as a child and loved, and joined a law firm in Mesa where she practiced in the area of Family law, Commercial and Civil Litigation. In 2005 she added Probate litigation to her repertoire as well as Trust Administration and Adult Guardianship and Conservatorships. In 2009 Judie began working as a Solo Practitioner and in 2010 opened her own firm Rettelle Law PLC. In 2022 Judie was thrilled to join the firm of Colburn Hintze Maletta, PLLC, where she continues to work, with the most impressive team of legal professionals, in the areas of Family Law, Probate, Adult Guardianship and Conservatorships, Powers of Attorney, and Partition Actions.
Judie is a past member and regional director of the Arizona Women Lawyers Association. She was also a member of the Defense Research Institute. She is also a past President of the East Valley Estate Planning Council. She is admitted to practice in all state and federal courts in Arizona.
