Stephanie Deskins practices family law, juvenile law, and represents clients in protective orders matters. Stephanie has experience representing clients in all areas of family law, including dissolution of marriage, annulments, custody modifications, enforcement and contempt, mediation, paternity, in loco parentis matters, spousal maintenance, relocation, child support, and business valuations. She has defended parents in dependency actions initiated by the Department of Child Services (DCS) in juvenile court and represented parents and grandparents in private termination of parental rights actions.
Stephanie balances aggressive advocacy with thoughtful negotiation and understands that sometimes the best outcomes for her clients are achieved outside of the courtroom. She is empathetic to her clients’ needs and strives to ensure that her clients understand both the process and controlling law in their matter. Additionally, Stephanie is a trained mediator and trained collaborative divorce attorney.
Stephanie has extensive experience successfully representing clients in high-stakes family court cases. Her meticulous approach to understanding her client’s objectives and her ability to persuasively present both the law and facts during settlement negotiations, mediation, and trial have led to countless victories for her clients.
Stephanie grew up surrounded by corn fields in southeastern Ohio. From Ohio, she moved to Texas in 2012, Hawaii in 2013, and finally Arizona in 2014. She considers Arizona her permanent home and enjoys the vast emptiness of the desert and the dry heat.
Prior to law school, Stephanie attended Arizona State University, earning a Bachelor of Arts in Philosophy, a Bachelor of Science in Political Science, and minoring in History. Stephanie graduated summa cum laude with a 4.0 GPA and was a member of multiple honor societies.
She attended the Sandra Day O’Connor College of Law at Arizona State University, where she attended as an O’Connor Merit Scholar. During law school, she received a CALI Award in Family Law (awarded for receiving the highest grade in her class), was named a Pedrick Scholar, and was a Staff Writer for the Arizona State Law Journal. She participated in both the First Amendment Clinic and Immigration Clinic as a Certified Limited Practice Student. During her final year in law school, she completed a year-long residency internship with a family law practitioner in Scottsdale, Arizona, and she was a Judicial Extern at the Arizona Supreme Court in the chambers of Justice Clint Bolick.
Stephanie has always prioritized volunteering in her community. She has been an Arizona Sugar Angel with Icing Smiles, Inc. since 2015, where she donates, bakes, and decorates fun and dream cakes for children impacted by critical illnesses. She also volunteered as a Girl Scout Troop Leader in the Scottsdale area for eight years and held various leadership roles within Girl Scouts – Arizona Cactus-Pine Council, including Fall Product Coordinator for the Indian Bend Service Unit and the School Coordinator for Sequoya Elementary School.
Her dedication to the community continued throughout law school and she graduated with the highest distinction for pro bono service. During law school, she volunteered with Court Works and co-coached an eighth-grade class through a mock trial event held at the Sandra Day O’Connor United States Courthouse in Phoenix. She also completed pro bono service hours with the Wills for Heroes Foundation and Community Legal Services.
Outside of law, Stephanie enjoys spending time with her four dogs, Hachiko, Banjo, Leilani, and Cosmo. She enjoys taking barre fitness classes, traveling internationally, and cheering on her Ohio State Buckeyes.
